About Us
Steve "Chileman" Carter
Born in England (a POM as Steve L would say!) cooking and in particular BBQing, has been a large part of Steve C's life for years. "For me, it all began when after completing University the travel bug took over in the late 1970's and early 80's and I toured through parts of North and Central America, Europe and eventually the African Continent. in most of these places people cook their food over open fires and it can't get more bbq than that!"
AFTER closing a contracting business of which he'd been vice president for 18 years, HE decided to try HIS hand at making hot pepper and BBQ sauces. It eventually led to opening the first 'Hot Shop' devoted to things hot and spicy, in the Niagara Peninsula where the legend of the 'Chileman' began!" His company Chilenorth Sauce Co won two prestigious Scovie Awards in 2001 and 2003, for "Ice Hot", the worlds first and only icewine based hotsauce. And in 2003 his Chilenorth team won second place in the Texas Division at the Ontario Provincial Chili competition at Blue Mountain resort in Collingwood.
Steve "Dingo" Lovelace
A true blue Australian, Steve L says "Throwing a shrimp or a snag on the barbie is just a natural thing for me." Transplanted to Canada via the UK, he has worked for years in the hospitallity field. Now working in the wine industry Steve lives for good food and good wine!
"Living in Niagara we have the best of both, and mixing grapewood smoked BBQ food with a great local wine, well it just goes hand in hand!" He continues "Although I can't make fine wines at home, I sure can put an amazing meal together on the BBQ and starting a business in products that enhance home barbequeing, that just makes sense!"
